After days of political uncertainty, Vijay’s TVK has managed to secure a majority with the help of parties that have long stood on the opposite side of the fence. This sudden shift happened for a simple reason that outweighs old loyalties: the need to keep the state's power in its own hands and avoid a takeover from above.&nbsp;

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan clarified that the party had given a support letter to TVK to help it attain the magic number while continuing to remain part of the DMK-led alliance. He attributed the decision to two reasons: VCK would not stand in the way of Joseph Vijay forming the government, and it would not allow President’s Rule to be imposed in Tamil Nadu.

“We have given a support letter to TVK to attain the magic number. We are still with the DMK-led alliance, but we have the independence and liberty to decide based on this political crisis. This is our stand. First, VCK will not be an obstacle to Joseph Vijay forming the government. Second, we will not allow the imposition of President’s Rule in Tamil Nadu. For these two reasons, we have decided to extend outside support,” he said.

Meanwhile, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) Tamil Nadu leader KAM Muhammed Abubacker also clarified that his party had extended support to TVK to form the government and that the IUML would continue in the DMK-led alliance.

“There is no change. The Indian Union Muslim League Tamil Nadu State Committee is continuing in the DMK-led alliance. We have given support to TVK to form the government. Without our support, they cannot form the government. We are exercising our democratic right. We must uphold democratic values in Tamil Nadu. We discussed this with them (DMK),” he said.

Thalapathy Vijay’s dream of becoming Chief Minister now appears set to become a reality, with TVK finally securing a majority. With VCK’s backing, along with support from Congress, CPI, CPI(M), and IUML, TVK has crossed the majority mark of 118 seats in the 234-member Assembly.

Vijay’s bloc, which stood at 116 seats (107 TVK MLAs, five from Congress, and four from Left parties), now comfortably exceeds the majority mark, with VCK’s two MLAs and additional IUML support pushing the tally to 120.

This breakthrough follows Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar’s demand for proof of majority. Following VCK’s announcement, the Governor cancelled his scheduled visit to Kerala and granted Vijay an appointment at 6:30 pm today.

Critics have accused the Governor of delaying the process and creating a political deadlock by raising questions about the stability of the proposed government.

<h2>DMK-AIADMK ‘Survival Pact’</h2>

Earlier, speculation emerged regarding a possible “survival pact” between the DMK and AIADMK. While DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan dismissed the claims as “rumours,” the very existence of such theories highlighted the desperation of traditional political forces to block a non-Dravidian outsider.
